BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

What an ugly football shirt

Saw the new Manchester United shirt yesterday at Bootcamp and nothing against the Red Devils but this is one ugly jersey. It looks like either a shower curtain or a table top at some carinderia (click on the image to enlarge it and so you can see for yourself). One of the minders at Bootcamp told me that one customer nearly laid down the shirt on the floor before saying: "Let's have a picnic!" Great! Someone bring the water melon, the hotdogs, and the ketchup. Or maybe we can play checkers? Game! Damned United.
