BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Shoebox Stuff

I was rummaging through an old box looking for something then I saw these old pics. Hahaha. Man, this takes me a long way back. The picture of Billy Ray Bates (then in his first stint with Ginebra San Miguel) dunking was the first ever shot I took of a sports person and that was during a game at the ULTRA. The second picture is with some friends with then Purefoods import and former Boston Celtic David Thirdkill. Taken at the Thomas Jefferson Cultural Center in Makati City. There was a press con and since me mam worked for the US Gov then we got in for a photo op. The pic of me as a Dallas Mavericks rookie was made by my officemates at Avellana for my birthday. I can't even remember who the actual player was. Hahaha. Also found some of my old St. Etienne CDs. Yeah! What a treat!
