BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

The Best Assist by the Black Hole of Boston

Boston's Danny Ainge was named the NBA Executive of the Year after engineering the biggest turnaround in NBA history. But really, Ainge should share the award if not surrender it to former teammate Kevin McHale who traded away Kevin Garnett from Minnesota to the Celtics.

To crib a line from Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler, "trade away for nothing, Celtics get KG."

And to the homefront... about rotting vegetables. http://philstar.com/index.php?Sports&p=49&type=2&sec=30&aid=2008051456
