BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Coach Ganon Baker talks about coaches needing to lead and motivate

During a break between weekends of the Ganon Basket Basketball Camp sponsored by Smart Breakdown Basketball Invitationals, the renowned coach and trainer answered questions about the role of coaches.

“Coaches are really teachers and life leaders,” pointed out Baker. “Coaching is all about motivation, execution, and relationships. Coaches need to find stories, parables, lessons, books and others to reach and teach their players. They have to be aware of each player and find out each of their “whys”, “what is their ‘why”, and why they do what they do.”

The second and final weekend of Coach Ganon’s camp is this weekend, September 9 and 10 at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center inside the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Loyola Heights, Quezon City. Camp time is from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.

The Ganon Baker Basketball Basketball Camp is sponsored by Cherifer, Smart, DTOP, and Gatorade.
