BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Elway is erroneously credited with Peyton Manning's 7 TDs. How'd that happen?

This has got to be one of the most embarrassing journalistic gaffes ever. The Colombus Dispatch credited retired Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway for the seven touchdown passes instead of current QB Peyton Manning following a 49-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens. The Colombus Dispatch claims they got this from a wire dispatch but that is besides the point. Don't you ever read or edit what you print? Elway has been retired from the NFL for 15 years! Furthermore, the first paragraph gets it right after which is degenerates into a comedy of errors. Just bad journalism all around.
