Teng, Adamson’s Brondial lead Filoil Weekly Awardees
The University of Santo Tomas’ Jeric
Teng was named the Master Best Player of the Week (May 27-June 1) in the Filoil
Flying V Hanes Premier Cup.
Teng, the Growling Tigers’ graduating
captain, led UST to a nail biting 76-75 finish over Emilio Aguinaldo College
for their fifth win in eight matches. That win solidified their third seed slot
for the quarterfinals of the tournament. Teng paced all scorers with 27 points
to go with six rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocks.
Adamson’s 6’5” fourth year forward-center
Rodney Brondial was also named the Gatorade Defensive Player for the Week after
he collectively chalked up 25 rebounds and two steals in a 79-78 win over the
University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and in a 75-68 loss to San Beda
College.
Named to the Gatorade Best Five of the
Week are UST’s Teng, EAC’s Ely Paguia, Adamson University’s Jericho Cruz, Far
Eastern University’s Mike Tolomia, and Ateneo’s Kiefer Ravena.
The Filoil
Flying V Hanes Premier Cup is presented by Hanes and Vulcaseal/Bostick. The
collegiate basketball tournament is co-presented by Master Facial Wash,
Starmobile, Meralco, and San Mig Coffee. Sponsors include DHL, Nature’s Spring,
Reyes BBQ, Banco De Oro, and Bayo. Minor sponsors include Gatorade, Molten,
Brother’s Burger, San Marino, Bank of the Philippine Islands, and Bacchus
Energy Drink.
