Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Nikko Huelgas' Olympic Dream

One of the things that is keeping me busy is are the videos I am doing for all 18 of our Gatorade athletes. I have my staff (Stu Balmaceda, Yu Murayama, and Rey Santos) writing two-thirds of them while I penned the Nikko Huelgas and Alyssa Valdez scripts. Will also be doing the LA Tenorio, Ani De Leon-Brown, Calvin Abueva, and Chieffy Caligdong. Watch for the first batch to be out in the next few weeks. In the meantime, here's the the first of three videos on triathlete Nikko Huelgas. I'll be joining him in Subic Bay this weekend for the 5150 triathlon.
