BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Weekend wrap up of my fave football teams

Good to see Liverpool finally taking off. But there's a drought when it comes to goals. Raheem Sterling scored the goal to see the Reds through, 1-0, against Reading. Slowly but surely now.

Juventus scored a huge 2-0 win over Napoli who is a threat to unseat them from the Serie A title they won last year. Massive late goals from subs Martin Caceres and Paul Pogba. Love it. As for my other clubs, Lyon figured in a scoreless draw with Brest while Ajax Amsterdam drew, 3-3, with Heracles. Big win here by Schalke over fading Borussia Dortmund, 2-1.
