BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Meeting the Los Angeles Galaxy (in Manila)


Thursday, December 1, 2011. This is me with David Beckham at the cocktail party for the Los Angeles Galaxy at the Makati Shangri-La. Asked Becks if he still follows his former clubs Manchester United and Real Madrid. His response: "Yes, I do. Once you're a part of those clubs you're a part of them forever. You cheer for United?"

Me: No. Ah, you're gonna strangle me now. I'm a Scouser. 

Becks: Let me choke you now! (to Robbie Keane) Hey, Robbo! This here's a 'pool fan."


With Landon Donovan. We'll be working on a live Facebook chat at the Gatorade Philippines page on Friday morning from 10:30-11:45am. We talked a bit about what we have to do and he's cool with it.
