BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

My ultimate NBA Team

Reading yesterday's Sports Illustrated, the pro hoops beat writers came out with their own ultimate draft. It would be fun to participate in one but in the absence of something, here are my choices:

Centers – Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain

Power forwards – Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Tim Duncan

Small Forward – Larry Bird, LeBron James, Scottie Pippen

Shooting Guard – Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant

Point Guard – Earvin Johnson, John Stockton

Coach – Phil Jackson

Tough choices that I was not able include: Shaquille O’Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Chris Mullin, and Reggie Miller.

3 comments:

  1. Power Forward - No love for KG or Bob Petit? Bob Petit > Sir Charles.

Point Guard - Will go with Magic, but Big O would be my choice.

SG - Toss up b/n Kobe and The Logo - Jerry West.

SF - Gotta make room for Elgin Baylor somewhere...
