BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Friday in Bacolod

To help promote the quarterfinals stage of the PFF Suzuki U-23 National Cup, we visited Bombo Radyo and Aksyon Radio. It sure was fun going to the station and actually banging the drum. Haha. Was that the highlight of the day? Hahaha.

We talked about the quarters, the teams involved, the skeds, and what is next for this tournament. This is the stage of the competition where teams are supposedly the best. At the time of our guesting at 8am, the NCR team in Laguna was getting shelled by Iloilo.

There was a light rain in the afternoon so it wasn't hot at all. The pitch was compact in most places. Maybe the scoreboard which still had the AFC Challenge Cup still up months after it was played. But it was fixed eventually. Sometime in the second half of the Bacolod-NCR match, a rainbow appeared just beyond the Eucalyptus trees in Panaad. I wish I had a better camera to take the shot. But it was just beautiful.

To cap off Friday, dinner was at Aida's the Manukan Country. Complete with the guest cockroach.
