BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Catching up with the Filipino Flash


Lunch with Nonito Donaire at Sentro in Serendra today. Nice catching up with him. Hopefully, I'll really get to cover his next fight. Got to talk about his fight with Fernando Montiel and what's in store. Story coming up in the next week.

    CJ: Agreed. Stay tuned for more boxing stuff. I have been inundated with office work the last week or so and I've been having a tough time writing. Soon though.

    BTW It looks like Nonito has a bodyguard in that picture. He is not smiling. Maybe it has something to do with some threats(although described as figure of speech by the author) he received after going to war with some of your fellow journalists on facebook, if you know what I mean.
