BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Much ado about a French kit

Some of my fave clothes are my Real Madrid and France 2006 Zizou kit. When I bought the former, there were a bunch of shirts with names on the back -- Raul, Cicinho, Beckham, Figo, Ronaldo, and of course, Zidane (my fave footballer). I got the Frenchman's jersey which was the last one on the rack and fortunately, it was at XL (my size). The France 06 was purchased in France. Unfortunately, recently, the laundry woman messed it up leaving it unwearable. I was so upset about it because the jersey is a little harder to wind. I am not even sure if the ones being sold online are authentic because I got mine right before the 06 World Cup. I tried to get a knock off in Bangkok but I have this thing about fakes --- they just don't sit well with me. Anyways, am saving up to order the authentic one.
