BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

From Jacques Van Bossche's father! Thanks, sir for writing.

"While Azkals German head coach Hans Michael Weiss and the coaching staff will make the announcement of the final lineup on Tuesday, the training pool has been beefed up by the Negros-born Filipino-Britons James and Ryan Hall and Filipino-Belgian Van Bosche, who was in the area on vacation and walked in for a tryout on Sunday."

Just to make things a bit more clear, Jacques Van Bossche did not walk in for a try out because he is on vacation there. He went there cause he was invited to come and try out, he could not make it in January cause of study-obligations (partials exams) and so it was arranged that he would come now to Bacolod. A letter of invitation was send to his club Sporting Lokeren to ask permission to attend, which they gave. We even had to ask permission to his school to be absent during this period.

Best regards and let's hope they win wednesday ;

Johan van Bossche
(Jacques' father)
