BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

  5. Kay anonymous na nagtanong about stocks... eh kaya na ubos kasi ang daming bandwagon na bumili. Eh dati hindi naman. just wait a few more weeks meron ulit stocks.

  6. That's not an excuse for Mizuno. You mean it takes several weeks before they can reproduce it? You, of all people, should know they've done a shit job on this. Besides, bandwagon or not, fans have every right to buy the shirt.

Yeah, they stuck with the team even through those tough times but is that enough reason and justification not to criticize them?

  7. That's not an excuse? Like everyone else, I too, am a consumer. But I know how the apparel industry does business since I have done PR work for adidas. In my experience, you do not carry excessive stock. I'll give you an example. When adidas first came out with its DLSU apparel, it did not sell well. That is kind of surprising when you think of all their alumni. Bro. Bernie was even concerned that he wrote adidas asking how they can help. Why? Because there were cheaper and non-branded DLSU attire available. So in the end, they had to put them on sale as well. As for Mizuno, I am not a fan of how they do all their business but who would have thought that their Azkals stuff would sell? Did you? If you know anything about retail, it isn't at the snap of a finger that you can just reorder.

  8. This is an obviously, elaborately directed photograph. Every arm and knee are in a position just the way the photographer wants it. But the socks! The socks!

  9. Mizuno should hire Nike designers though.

It is offensive labeling new Azkal fans as bandwagon.

  10. Bottom Line :

Good that stocks ran out, it means that football awareness is here, bandwagon or not.

Bad that stocks ran out, it means more football fans cannot wear our colours YET.

IMHO, sir rick, the absence of other azkal wear is the reason why the original jerseys are sold out, and that fast.

In any case, let's just wait a bit.
    Cool lang tayo.
    :D

  11. Hey guys. I apologize for answering testily. Hindi kasi maganda yung "you of all people". Para kang hinahamon. I don't expect everyone to agree with me and vice versa. And I don't need to reply to everything however... pagmali yung iniisip kailangan i-klaro.

Let's face it. There are very very few people who thought we would do well. You can count that using three fingers. The wins, the success took many by surprise.

This is one of those moments where every one goes, "I should have..."

for years their stocks wouldn't sell out. It would eventually sell out but not like this. I think in 2006 it did (and I do have their red jersey from that year) but not again.

Anyways, we will have better discussions on this. Thanks and peace!

  12. bandwagon or not, what do you care? its better than not having support at all. as if you started the team. and where did you hear about the azkals? i guess you are part of the group than jumped in the bandwagon as well
