BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

A bittersweet farewell to HBO's 24/7
What I am going to miss? Bruce Boudreaux is a serial cusser. :) But this trumps any previous 24/7 series. And this is what Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis had to say in his blog.

Prince Ali elected FIFA Vice President
The Middle East is the new power block. Anyone want to bet that Mohammad Bin-Hammam will challenge Sepp Blatter for FIFA President?

The Russians won the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships by scoring an astonishing five goals in the third period after being down 3-0 to Canada. The final score was 5-3. And the Russians celebrated, got drunk and got kicked off their Delta Airlines flight for being unruly on board. Snicker Snicker. So what I want to know if who is the next NHL superstar among these champagne swigging Russkies?

  4. sir you know about the drug used? it's for treating narcolepsy, and that it was disclosed that her pill was not a recreational drug and most likely not a serious one. i'm still holding out some hope that it's not really serious as it's blown out to be.

Suns Coach Alvin Gentry is the latest to rush to her support: http://www.swishappeal.com/2011/1/7/1920863/diana-taurasi-receives-support-from-phoenix-suns-coach-alvin-gentry

"All I can say is that I've known Diana for a long time. I don't know the whole process about it but I would be pretty much ready to stake my reputation on the fact that whatever it is, it's not as it appears," Gentry said.
