BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

No wonder their team lost, he's such a lousy tackle.


The Ohio University Bobcat mascot tried to tackle Ohio State University mascot Brutus right before the start of the two schools' match. It turned out that the man in the Bobcat costume, Brandon Hanning was a former OSU student who transferred to another college. He applied for the job of OU mascot just to tackle Brutus. Well, he didn't do a great job at tackling and the ironic thing there is his team were just as bad as they lost to OSU 43-7.

Remember that quote from National Lampoon's Animal House: "A wimp and a blimp." Perfect if you ask me.
