BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Pics from the Ironman 70.3 Philippines Triathlon at Cam Sur

With Ton Gatmaitan and Coach Tim Cone at the Meet the Pros press con that kicked off the 2010 Ironman 70.3 Philippines. Had a long long talk with Coach Tim about the Alaska Aces. I used a part of that in my column yesterday titled "Three sides to Tim's triangle." Hope you liked that.

Some of the pros present at the Meet the Pros. Got to talk to many of them. Will use that for a longer story somewhere. In this picture, they're all saying, "Cam Sur!"

With Alaska Corporation CEO Fred Uytengsu. We put up 13 fingers for the total number of titles his Aces have won in the PBA.

With Kiwi Terenzo Bozzone at the K-Swiss booth. At the Convention Center, he challenged me to get into shape and compete consistently in any sport. There was some wakeboarding Sunday afternoon but by then I flew back to Manila to make it for the Ateneo-La Salle game. K-Swiss happens to be my second favorite brand. Loved it ever since it first came out.

That's me with Mount Isarog in the background.

  2. Challenge accepted. As he said, the challenge there is waking up at 5am religiously every morning to get up and work out. Races are won and lost right there."
