BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Getting strong now....

You know the "Theme from Rocky"? Bill Conti's masterful soundtrack? Well, that's what I feel about this APEX Speed, Agility, and Quickness camp (given by Jim Saret) in Ateneo. There will be one in Philsports this May too (if Smart Gilas' schedule gets fixed). I was supposed to take part in Day 2 but I was waiting for someone in Starbucks Katipunan and then I snapped pics of a pro-Jason Ivler rally that was reported by GMA-7. So Monday morning na lang. Yeah, I know. This was supposed to be my column for Monday then my participation in the Lapu Lapu Marathon next weekend for my next column. There I will alternate between walking and jogging since I will be lugging an SLR and a videocam. Hahaha! Seriously. There were more participants today and I hear there will be more on Monday. Including the parents of the kids who will also participate! Tres cool, effendi.
