BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Sheeds of Green

Rasheed Wallace, who has always been one of my favorite players, is with the Boston Celtics. They also have another great pick up in Marquis Daniels. Now is Doc Rivers manages them well, they could win another title. While the influence of Kevin Garnett will play a huge factor, Sheed is at a stage of his career where he is winding down. The former petulant bad boy from Portland has been an upstanding citizen in Detroit and should continue to do so in Boston. Now along with Rajon Rondo who continues to improve, that is one awesome five.
