BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Is this a sign of things to come for the Lakers?

It's certainly possible that the Los Angeles Dodgers will meet the New York Yankees in the World Series (provided they both make it that far of course). That could mean a reunion between former NY manager Joe Torre who is the skipper of the Dodgers and the Yankees. Think about how explosive that could be. But on another note -- Ron Artest joins the Lakers. Is this a preview of the Lake Show's season to come? The defending champs getting beaned (or sabotaged) by the 2K version of Dennis Rodman? Stay tuned.
