BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Not in their class

No Zlatan Ibrahimovic? No problemo, signore. Intermilan won the derby with intra-city rivals AC Milan with a 4-0 thrashing at the San Siro. The Nerazzurri showed the Rossoneri three lefts before decking them with a wicked screamer to the right courtesy of Dejan Stankovic's 25-meter blast.

Thiago Motto got the four-time Serie A champs on the board with some nifty cross passes first from Sam Eto'o then Diego Milito. Motto flicked it in from the left over the outsretched arms of Milan's goalkeeper Marco Storari.

Then Milan defender Gennaro Gattuso brought down a streaking Eto'o inside the box for apenalty that Milito converted with a rocket down the middle as Storari leaped to his right. 2-nil Inter.

Before the half ended, Gattuso was sent off for another foul leaving an already hapless Milan looking even more disorganized.

Another one-two pass through the porous Milan defense found Maicon sending the ball past a frustrated Storari with a shot very similar to Motto's goal.
