BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

A Show of Hands

Until some start losing and bitching.

The experiment with the tickets with regards to the Ateneo-La Salle match is just the first. I still do not know why they have not gone back to the old format of all the games of two schools -- juniors, women's and men's be held in one day. Why are there television considerations?

But for the Final Four this year, there is a proposal on the UAAP Board's table that it's going to be one game per day. That will make for more tickets for all. This will be studied in greater detail soon. Whether this will pass or not we have no idea.

Regarding tickets, by the second round, a portion of the Ateneo tickets (earmarked for alumni not students) will be available thru the Ateneo Alumni Association office.

A word to the UAAP Board... do what is best for the league and its students and alumni.

San Sebastian should change the name of its team from the Golden Stags to the Magic.
