After Santa Barbara, we headed over to Calinog, one of the towns here in Iloilo. This is a pic of me with teachers of Calinog elementary school and its football club (the ones in black). Their dedication to the game is incredible and most commendable. They coach voluntarily and their goal is to help kids get to college through football. Some of the kids here have been snapped up by UP, UST, and FEU.
Calinog's perseverance with the game has turned them into a local power and with more training and seasoning, they will be challenging Santa Barbara and Barotac Nuevo for local and regional football supremacy.
They don't have too much money and the teachers and parents just pass around the hat (same in the other areas). For kababayans who are abroad, they ask for balls, gloves, and kits.
Hopefully, this documentary I am working on will help provide sponsors for the people here.
It was nice meeting you all and I so love the black football jersey.
