BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

We want the airwaves, baby! (with apologies to the Ramones for cribbing the song)

Halikinu Radio is going to be back this college basketball season and I am joining Gabe Mercado, Mhel Garrido, Macky Escalona, and Portia Silva in the show. Yahoo! New format. New production group. New basketball season.

My good friends Ralph and Trina are producing the show and whoa... am jacked up for this.

And if things work out... there's another announcement (similar to the Halikinu Radio gig) I will make in a few weeks.

And if I can muster the courage to get back into the ocean (I had a traumatic experience with some damn shark), I'll be surfing with E-Head Marcus Adoro soon.
