BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Team Gilas goes for Chinese cuisine

After the huge win against Lebanon, MVP treated the team ad all of us out for Chinese food at the Crystal Jade Palace in the Grand Indonesia mall in the Sudirman Central Business District of Central Jakarta.

The ride from our hotel in Donau Sunter takes anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour with traffic. I left early because I'm kind of allergic to seafoods and having eaten some I became indisposed.

But here are pics from our dinner there. Incidentally, the Crystal Jade Palace was awarded the Hospitality Platinum Award last year for its great service. Wish I could have fully enjoyed it but my tummy doesn't welcome most seafood.
