BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

We won today against Qadsia Kuwait which fell to the bottom of Group A. But without CJ Giles and Chris Tiu, the team had to scramble and come back twice to win the match to go 3-1.

I will post the game accounts versus Lebanon and Kuwait tomorrow since I will use them both for Monday's edition of the Business Mirror. The game against Al Riyadi is rather long because of the sheer drama behind it so I will use it for my Bleachers' Brew column in Business Mirror. The Kuwait story, well, you'll read the unexpurgated version here on my blog and the Reader's Digest version in the paper.

The reason why I didn't post the Lebanon story is because some dumb fuck plagiarized my game story against Iran. Here's the link of that fucker. Fuck you, Houman!

I complained to the FIBA officials here but they said these bastards do it all the time to many a writer.

In the meantime I'll post some other stuff later and tomorrow morning. I'm going around downtown Jakarta tomorrow morning as the game against Qatar is at 8pm. The main game, homeys!
