BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

The Red and Blues make it

The Philippines beat Bhutan 1-0 courtesy from a goal by Chad Gould who headed in a perfect cross by James Younghusband.

There were plenty of scoring opportunities but the Azkals were unable to finish.

Turkmenistan destroyed Maldives 3-0 in the other match.

We need to pour on the goals and get the wins of course to advance.

Good luck, Team!

On the other hand, Liverpool bows out of the UEFA Champions League after they drew 4-4 with Chelsea last night at Stamford Bridge. The Blues advance to the semis with a 7-5 goal advantage in aggregate.

So sad. But thanks to Bea for getting me Liverpool's black jersey in Bangkok. It eases the pain of that. Now they can concentrate on winning the English Premier League.
