BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Will there be an encore in Emirates? Thierry Henry back to Arsenal?

Word is Thierry Henry could be back in the English Premier League next season even if he is doing well with Barcelona. The Catalan club hopes to land Henry's fellow Les Bleus teammates Yoann Gourcuff or Franck Ribery in the offseason.

Is a reunion with former boss Arsene Wenger in the offing or will he go to another club? If he becomes available, will Manchester City offer him the moon?

The French international I'd say still has a few more good years in him. If I were Barca, I'd hold on to him as they have their Holy Trinity of Lionel Messi, Sam Eto'o, and Henry. Does that put the fear of God in oppossing goalkeepers or what?

And speaking of Lionel Messi, I'll go on record to say that he will be the next FIFA player of the year.

How time flies, yes? It's the World Cup again next year.
