Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. Homeless World Cup: Philippines 3 vs. India 4

Day 4 of the Homeless World Cup is one of so many memories that it will take time to sort them all out and categorize them for the future. It may be simpler to start with one thought.

The Philippines lost to India 4-3. India played an aggressive game that caught our players by surprise. They trained with older players who played “rough” but this was for real and a couple times our players had that look of shock and hesitation. What do I do now coach?

Team Philippines brings something no other team does to this tournament. It is perhaps the most painful representation of poverty. Youth.
