NU crushes UMT for third straight RBL
win

The University of Mindanao Tagum
started the match with an ace and a down the line shot from Shania Verana as the
Davao Del Norte squad kept pace with powerhouse Nazareth School of
National University, 9-8, in the first set.
However, four successive points by Alyssa
Solomon, Nicole Magsarile, and Camille Lamina, aided by an unfortunate attack
error by UMT’s Sheena Gallentes saw the UAAP Girls’ three-peat champions right
their ship and it was smooth sailing from there.
NU took the match in two sets,
25-14 and 25-15, to go 3-0 in Pool A of the Rebisco Volleyball League at the
Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna. NU kept pace with Hope Christian High
School that also totes a 3-0 slate.
The girls of head coach Raymond
Castillo have thus far bested Holy Family Academy of Pampanga, Leyte National
High School, and now, University of Mindanao Tagum.
“Against NU, dapat you play the
game of your life and may halong suwerte,” lamented UMT coach Michael Angelo
Paulo. “We had our chances early in the game when NU had receive problems but
masyadong malalim yung bench nila. Kahit sino ipasok mo diyan gagawa. Kung may
off-day yung isa, yung iba maaring hindi.”
Paulo’s squad fell to 1-2 with
their only win coming against Holy Family Academy, 25-17 and 25-20 in the
second day of competition.
