Nazareth School of National
University looked to roll over Hope Christian High School but Jerry Yee’s girls
didn’t give the Pool A top seed spot on a silver platter to the three-time UAAP
Girls Division Champions as they made a game of it in the second set.
Playing good floor coverage and
resiliency in their attacks, HCHS tied the match at 23-all. NU setter Joyme
Cagande finished off HCHS with a deft serve that led to a NU point then a service
ace to close out the match, 25-15 and 25-23.
Michaela Belen led NSNU with 10
points while Alyssa Solomon added five for head coach Raymond Castillo’s team.
With the win, NSNU claimed the
top spot of Pool A and will battle Holy Rosary College in the crossover
semi-finals on Saturday, November 25.
In the other semi-finals, De La
Salle Lipa will play Hope Christian High School.
