Fresh of its 2-1 conquest of erstwhile
unbeaten Loyola Meralco Sparks, Stallion FC, is looking forward to the arrival
of 21-year old Fil-Briton Levi Gilmar Di Silva Fernandez who will join the club
starting April 1, 2015.
Fernandez, who despite his
Portuguese-sounding name is actually of Jamaican ancestry but was born in
England. His grandmother, Concepcion
Fernandez hails from the province of Laguna. She will be joining Levi this
month to help facilitate his application for a Philippine passport.
“Levi will be playing for Stallion FC
while on loan from Alloa Athletic of the Scottish Champions Side, from April 1
to August 2015,” said Stallion head coach Ernest Nierras who believes that the
lanky forward will be a huge addition to a team that boasts of current and
former national players that include defender Simone Rota as well as forwards
Ruben Doctora Jr. and OJ Clarino. “He will be wearing jersey number 88. I
believe that Levi will fit perfectly with Stallions style of football. He is
young, athletic and very talented. He will instantly fit into our system both
offensively and defensively.”
According to his agent, Steve MacCallen,
Fernandez’ possesses sound technical skills and a very good tactical
understanding of the game. “Levi will be a great addition to the Stallion
roster as we embark on trying to winning the UFL Cup and UFL league in 2015,”
added Nierras. “Hopefully
we will see more of him in a Stallion jersey and that he could impress in order
to earn a call up to the seniors national team.”
Fernandez will be arriving on March 17,
and to train with Stallion and acclimatize himself with the local game and his
new team.
