BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Will soccer remain popular in the US after the World Cup? I voted YES.

Voted in a poll on USA Today (the eighth one to do so) with regards to football stayng popular or becoming even more popular in the United States after the World Cup. That poll is in reaction to the statements made by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (click on the link to read it) that does not mean to disparage the sport but merely offers an opinion. I respectfully disagree seeing how Major League Soccer has grown a lot since the 1994 World Cup held in the America.
