BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Hep Pep! Hooray!

FC Barcelona on the cover of the latest issue of Newsweek. So are the Catalans the best football team ever? There's squads from the history of Real Madrid, Liverpool, AC Milan, Manchester United, and Boca Juniors who would like to contest that GOAT issue. But you have to tip your hat off to Pep Guardiola and FC Barcelona. Amazing. And I thought those squads with Ronaldinho and Sam Eto'o were darn good.

  1. They are just amazing, they know well each other, they know where to pass. The Xavi, Messi, Iniesta play is the heart of barcelona. Xavi knows where would messi run, iniesta knows where would xavi run. They have a philosophy from la masia to camp nou. Never let your opponent play the ball. Mes que un club Barca Barca!!!
