BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Bender

Hiro Nakamura is that character from Heroes who has the ability to travel through time. While Hiro, as played by Masi Oka, is a cool character, we've got a real life reality bender today. And his name is Isiah Thomas. The current head coach of Florida International University in a recent interview with ESPN thinks that if he were still running the New York Knicks then he can bring over that guy known as LBJ to Madison Square Garden. But if the Knicks could land the Man who was formerly known as the king, it is largely because of current General Manager Donnie Walsh who has been offloading those monstrosities for NBA contracts they call in NYC. He even suggested that the success of players like David Lee, Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph can be attributed to their time in Manhattan. Seriously, we can go on here but I think I'm going to get a migraine.

Need to escape from your current problems or rewrite history? Then dial I-S-I-A-H. No drugs needed to bend reality.
