BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Three pics. Three home runs.

Alex Rodriguez hit three home runs in the New York Yankees' 8-3 win over the Kansas City Royals today. The win gave the Bronx Bombers a 72-44 slate that is still the best in Major League Baseball. It was the fourth time A-Rod bashed three homers in a game. Jorge Posada followed a batter later with his 13th HR then Curtis Granderson knocked out out for his 11th in pinstripes.

Mark Teixeira leads the club with 26 home runs followed by Nick Swisher who has 22. Robinson Cano and Rodriguez both have 21 apiece. Derek Jeter has nine. So if he hits a 10th one that will give New York seven players with at least 10 HRs.
