BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

NBA Fit & Coach Spo

At the Marriott Hotel Manila for the NBA Fit Press Con with Coach Erik Spoelstra. I arrived pretty early coz I had to bring my kid to football practice (530pm). So you could say I was pretty tired early in the day. Used my time waiting to work on the Ateneo-UP game story and some other stuff. Got to talk to Coach Spo (and I've got video of that) and will be using that for my column on Monday. Also enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with not just my media colleagues above but with Anthony Suntay and TJ Manotoc. Talked about the Miami Heat and the UAAP. Third time to chat with Coach Spo and this one was better as he wasn't distracted (the last time we chatted was at a practice by Smart Gilas). So that you know, Coach Spo didn't answer in depth questions about the Heat's new acquisitions.
