BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Coming up -- the 2010 NBA Asia Challenge

Gary Payton. Chris Webber. Glen Rice. Mitch Richmond. These NBA legends will be playing in our shores this coming Friday, August 27, 2010 in an exhibition game at the Araneta Coliseum. 
It's going to be a whole new format when two teams featuring a mix of NBA legends, D-League players, PBA legends, and current PBA stars take on each other at 730pm at the Araneta Coliseum. 
The Miami Heat Dancers and mascot Burnie will also be on hand to provide entertainment.
The D-League players will include Richie Frahm (the former Talk N Text import) of the Reno Bighorns, Darnell Lazare of the Maine Red Claws, Mark Tyndale of the Iowa Energy, and Chris McCray of the Sioux Falls Sky Force.
The PBA Legends will include Benjie Paras, Alvin Patrimonio, Ronnie Magsanoc, and Atoy Co (yes, the Fortune Cookie is playing!). Current players will include LA Tenorio, Asi Taulava, James Yap, Don Don Hontiveros, Arwind Santos, and Rico Maierhofer.
Woo hoo!
The game will be shown of SolarTV and Basketball TV.
