BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Say goodnight, Gracie!

It's the end of the road for Chuck Liddle. Incredibly, that first round was his. Little did he know that he was fighting a one-armed man after Rich Franklin had his arm broken after a kick by the Iceman (as Chuck was once fearfully called). Yet Ace still knocked Chuck out with under 10 seconds. That's what -- five times in his last six fights or something where he's had his clock cleaned out. Call it a career before some real damage is done, Chuck. At least Quinton Jackson has Hollywood and the WWE to go to if he loses anymore fights. You might want to do the same.
