BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

I think the son has taste

New York Yankees fan Benjamin Weinberg, left, 13, puts his arm around his father Matthew Weinberg, a New York Mets fan, both from Manhattan, as the pair walk down the stairs of the No. 7 train platform to attend the Subway Series interleague baseball game between the Mets and the Yankees at Citi Field in New York, Friday, May 21, 2010. When asked how his son became a Yankees fan, the father shrugged his shoulder replying, "He's an independent thinker." (AP Photo/David Goldman)
