Mad dogs and Joshua Webb

Joshua Webb is a second too late in realizing that Kevin Alas pulled up for a jumper (he was guarding against the drive). The other player cut out in the picture is Ferdinand. Alas made the shot from the right side of the elbow. All net. But DLSU got the win over Letran in the Opening Day of the Fil Oil Pre-season Invitational Tournament. Note on Alas, having watched him in the previous year, he seems to be trying to do too much now that Rey G and RJ Jazul are gone. And that pull up fade, he attempted on several occasions is right out of Kobe Bryant. Promise. If you've been watching Letran and Alas' game you'd say that it's a new weapon in his arsenal.

Webb is the type of player you hate because he's not on your team. I, on the other hand, saw a very good basketball player even during his high school days at DLSZ. I was supposed to write a column about him for Business Mirror last year but Ken hijacked it for Rebound. The longer space affords a little more latitude in the writing. I won't be posting here. Come to think of it, I never posted any of the things I wrote for Rebound on Brew. I have a vested interest in the magazine doing well because it was a baby of the first Sportsnation class I held (there will be a second now that I'm no longer pushing through with the trip to Europe no thanks to some bit of alpine whatever). Anyways, the title of the piece is, "Mad dogs and Joshua Webb." Thanks, dude. Hope ya like it!

The fourth issue will be out before the start of the college basketball season.
