@ Jim Saret's Speed, Agility & Quickness Camp

I’ve seen this training program firsthand with Smart Gilas Pilipinas, the Philippine National Swimming Team, and some PBA teams and now, Coach Jim Saret is now making the program available to all. I had the opportunity to attend the soft launch of it at Blue Eagle Gym today given to over 30 participants varsity and non-varsity from Ateneo. The varsity representatives included members of the Ateneo Men’s Volleyball and Lawn Tennis teams and AHS Football.

Also on hand were over a dozen national athletes working as coaches to help the participants. The eight-module session will be rolled out across the metro in the next few weeks.

If it wasn’t for my crippling migraine I would have taken part but I was having trouble maintaining my focus. I will miss the next few sessions because for one, former Chicago Bull BJ Armstrong will be in town and two, I am going to Cebu for the Lapu Lapu Marathon. Yes, I will participate and take pictures and video at the same time. How I do that I’ll go figure.

Helping out in the camp are Elma Muros-Posadas, Henry Dagmil (Track and Field Beijing Olympian, Jennifer Saret, Ernie Candelario, and Julius Nieras.

In this camp sponsored by Milo, the participants were made to do a drill that is done by Smart Gilas. Duane Teves of the Volleyball Team topped the drill in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. For Gilas, Mac Baracael topped it under three minutes.
