BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Pete Sampras & Andre Agassi share the love

(From Chris Chase of Yahoo Sports) During a charity doubles match Friday night at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, the two rivals, who have been engaged in a public war of words over the past six months, aired their grievances on live microphones in front of 18,000 fans and a live television audience. The spat began as an innocent joke by Sampras and quickly escalated into an uncomfortable exchange which included bitter insults, genuine mocking and culminated in a Sampras serve aimed squarely at Agassi's head.
