BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Washington, I've been telling you to change the name back to the Bullets.

The Washington Wizards' Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton reportedly drew guns on one another inside the locker room following a dispute. Reports have it that Arenas owed Crittenton a debt born out of gambling and was trying to collect when the argument got heated. Since signing that lengthy contract with Washington, Arenas has caused more distractions than any attention on the court. When I got a chance to interview him when he came over, he seemed like a nice guy; very polite and thoughtful. Guess we can't really tell right away, huh? Now you know why the name Wizards was imperfect. Bring back the Bullets.
