BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Joey Crawford Sucks

Why in the blue hell is this guy still officiating in the NBA? This is the guy who was prosecuted for downgrading his airline tickets while pocketing the change and the one who challenged Tim Duncan to a fight.

Tossing Ron Artest wasn't right. He should have been issued a warning first. What ever the Houston Rocket's action on the floor may be it did not warrant an ejection. And ejections can change the momentum of the game for one team.

Crawford is known for that short fuse and the pro game does not need bums like him.

Everyone knows what NBA playoff basketball is like so he should let the players decide it; not the refs.
