UAAP OFFICIALS CRY ‘GAME FIXING!’by rick olivares
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) will seek congressional help to curb suspected rigging of men’s basketball games in the ongoing Season 71, Business Mirror learned.
Two members of the UAAP board, who asked not to be named, told Business Mirror that season president Sergio S. Cao, chancellor of general host University of the Philippines, will formally write to congress about the league’s desire to eliminate the alleged game-fixing activities that involves players and even game officials.
Business Mirror found out that the recent slay try on Far Eastern University cager Marnel Baracael and rumors that other players are in collusion with gambling syndicates have forced league members to protect not only their players and students but also the league's integrity.
