BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Show me unity and I'll show you a congress

I attended the BAP-SBP 2008 National Congress at the Dusit Hotel in Makati City yesterday. Congratulations to MVP for winning a second term as president of the NSA. Ditto to Noli Eala for taking over the Executive Director position from outgoing Pato Gregorio.

My only gripe is, next time some officials invite basketball players to attend, make sure they know the issue or they're on your side because it sucks when they're asked to go and they don't know why. Smacks of the hakot crowd politicians like to throw on us.

Mediaman 1: Buti natuloy 'to... may TRO di ba?
Mediaman 2: Hindi mangyayari yan.

Okay.

I should ask the SBP people why they are keeping the "BAP" in their name.
