BLEACHERS BREW EST. MAY 2006

Someone asked me how my blog and newspaper column came to be titled "Bleachers Brew". It's like this, it's an amalgam of sorts of two things: The bleachers area in the stadium/arena where I used to sit when I would watch baseball, football, and basketball games and Miles Davis' great jazz album Bitches Brew. That's how it got culled together. I originally planned on calling it "The View from the Big Chair" that is a nod to Tears For Fear's second album, Songs from the Big Chair. So there.

Flaunt the Imperfection (with thanks to China Crisis' best album ever)

The Patriots seemed headed to 19-0 after finally getting their act together to seize a 14-10 lead in the fourth quarter. But needing something close to a miracle, New York QB Eli Manning ducked out of a sack attempt and kept the drive alive for the Giants. And when Manning found Plaxico Burress wide open in the end zone a few plays later, the Giants had a lead they wouldn't surrender. (the photo was taken by Win McNamee of Getty Images)
