Ruud Gullit… dudes, he was a great football player. Along with Frank Rijkaard and Marco Van Basten they formed a great troika for the Dutch teams of the late 80’s and early 90’s. Now that he's replaced Frank Yallop as LA Galaxy head coach, he'll bring a different perspective to the team. Too bad that Cobi Jones won't be around as he retired.

The dreadlocked-haired coach scored 16 goals for the Oranje in 66 international caps and 175 goals for Feyenoord, PSV Eindhoven, AC Milan, and Chelsea (among his other teams) during his career.

I'm really rooting for the Beautiful Game to become even more popular in America.

Now if only the same thing will happen in the Philippines.

When Franck Ribery and Toni Luca signed with Bayern Munich, it sent shockwaves throughout the German Bundesliga. For the longest time, the German domestic football league has been considered boring, too slow, too secular. Too Bayern dominated. All of a sudden even the other German clubs are rooting -- in some way even if they have a lot of the national team's mainstays -- for the club to succeed.

Why? They hope that the other clubs will open their doors to more and more international players that will open the league to foreign investment. The Spanish and Italian clubs were hoping to get Ribery, the French mid-fielder who dazzled the world along with Zinedine Zidane with his magic in the mid-field. For him to go to Germany says a lot about Germany's willingness to change. I'd say that change has been in the air for them since Jurgen Klinsmann was coach of their national team. And it has worked wonders for their squad.

Now if only some of them can stop being racists.
